Love the thing you hate

emerald_tree_boa-by-straymuse-at-sxc-photo-exchangeI think this needs to be a song title and everyone will then find out how important it is. I can be honest with you all that I have had my share of things to hate and just this very day, one of them popped up to remind me how good it is to love the thing you hate.

This is a technique written about by Dr John Demartini in his book The Gratitude Effect. In essence the thing is that you can not let go of something, move on and and start thinking of what you want to replace it with, if you are still caught up with hatred or any negative emotion about it.  To move on, you have to come to terms with the thing, learn to love it and then you can release it and accept new things into your life.

The way that I do this is to sit down and write the longest list I possibly can about why I love the thing.  Every single thing that I can think of about why I am grateful that it occurred.  And then I ask the man of my dreams if I missed anything and he can usually add a few more!  Every little bit helps.

I then just thank the Universe for sending me the thing in the first place, enjoy the moment and get on with life.

It works, it is amazing and I am then able to concentrate on more of my dreams and desires, letting acceptance and deservability in and loving the effect. And you know what, you can rewire your brain to do this for you without too much work on your part.  You just have to be persistent with it until the new pathway kicks in.  And that is a scientific fact.

Now, on to my next dream, to be a millionaire! And I am not joking.

  1. Congratulations on the new blog and your own domain name. There is still much to be done to have it the way you want. I have made up a sample banner header to try but I need to do it when I am refreshed and can clearly see what I am doing. The banner will replace the Metro Theme currently showing.

If you decide not to use this theme we can very easily change to a different one.

Brenda, you are the leading edge of success. Mxxxxx

  2. okay…so I did it. The header is now up. Font and colour of font can be changed as can the graphic. We’ll talk more about this later. For now though, I’m off to bed (it’s 3am).
