Four Good News Stories

Four months ago I made a decision to have a total media ban because I was fed up with the increasingly negative portrayal of life in general that was presented in any media. In newspapers, television and radio there was tragic focus on the global financial crisis and in every magazine it was the latest breakup in relationships for anyone and everyone.  It seemed to me that if I wanted to maintain my strong positive attitude and my ongoing personal development, I needed to stay away from constant negativity.  I also wanted to take a stance and put my energy into sending positive thoughts across the world.

Honestly, it has been easy and pleasurable to disconnect and concentrate my energies on positive and joy filled activities like talking to my family and friends and reading fun things. However, I decided that it is time to challenge myself and see how things are going.  I did a bit of research and this is what I found.  On one major news site the first two articles listed were good news and showed that the dollar is up, shares are higher and fuel is lower in price.  Now that is not too bad.  I then looked at another where I found that there is a city in Australia that is home to the safest jobs!  So go to Canberra if you want a safe job.

Overwhelmingly though, the news remains negative. So first things first.  My appreciation and thanks go to those writers of news and editors who are presenting good news stories.  They were great and I enjoyed them – more please.  I really want to know where the happiest jobs are now.  And second, the media blackout still stands and I will continue to do other more exciting things with my spare time and send out more positive energy to the Universe.

However, the final word goes to Andy Griffiths, Australia’s number one Business Energiser, who said that history shows that after every tough time comes a good time.  Get Excited!!!!  There is a good time coming and you want to be here and ready when it arrives.  And that, my friends is what having a great attitude is all about.

  1. What a wonderful spin you and Andrew Griffiths have put on the tough times – after every tough time comes a tender time. C’mon baby, c’mon. It’s like cooking a stew really – from something yuk comes something real yummy!

One of my favourite sayings is that you cannot have a light without a dark to hang it in. I imagine being mortally wounded for those who just cannot see their light though because they are blinded by the dark that the media so quickly portrays – in the words of my beloved Paul McDermott and Mikey Robbins – it’s Good News Week.

I still have a media ban (except that I LOVED the biggest loser :) and watched it) and I am entirely a better person for not absorbing the negative spin that many people put on a produced reality.
