Four Good News Stories
Four months ago I made a decision to have a total media ban because I was fed up with the increasingly negative portrayal of life in general that was presented in any media. In newspapers, television and radio there was tragic focus on the global financial crisis and in every magazine it was the latest breakup in relationships for anyone and everyone. It seemed to me that if I wanted to maintain my strong positive attitude and my ongoing personal development, I needed to stay away from constant negativity. I also wanted to take a stance and put my energy into sending positive thoughts across the world.
Honestly, it has been easy and pleasurable to disconnect and concentrate my energies on positive and joy filled activities like talking to my family and friends and reading fun things. However, I decided that it is time to challenge myself and see how things are going. I did a bit of research and this is what I found. On one major news site the first two articles listed were good news and showed that the dollar is up, shares are higher and fuel is lower in price. Now that is not too bad. I then looked at another where I found that there is a city in Australia that is home to the safest jobs! So go to Canberra if you want a safe job.
Overwhelmingly though, the news remains negative. So first things first. My appreciation and thanks go to those writers of news and editors who are presenting good news stories. They were great and I enjoyed them – more please. I really want to know where the happiest jobs are now. And second, the media blackout still stands and I will continue to do other more exciting things with my spare time and send out more positive energy to the Universe.
However, the final word goes to Andy Griffiths, Australia’s number one Business Energiser, who said that history shows that after every tough time comes a good time. Get Excited!!!! There is a good time coming and you want to be here and ready when it arrives. And that, my friends is what having a great attitude is all about.
The Secret to Personal Development
People often ask me what personal development is. I have yet to find an Australian person who has not had some engagement with personal development in some way. Some people have found self development experiences in a magazine, journal or online. While others have benefited as an employee having access to motivation and attitude workouts on a regular basis. Put simply, personal development occurs when you are self questioning, prepared to inquire and learn so that you are better at something of your choice.
That might be better at learning, better at your job, having a better attitude, making money, leadership or whatever bit of magic you are seeking. Mostly though, personal or self development is about your inner journey; your ability to be hardy and robust in the face of challenges; your ability to gain self mastery, to be motivated and effective and to feel successful, happy and fulfilled in your life. Personal development also leads you to take responsibility for your own actions, or lack of actions; helps you to understand how to change parts of your life where you desire something different and leads you to empowerment and action.
The secret to personal development is to get personal with yourself, get very intimate with what you like about yourself and what you do not like. And then be prepared to build up and love what you like and work with and change what you do not like.
Of course, if you are really keen about personal development, you can make it your life. There are home business opportunities based around the multi-billion dollar industry that is personal development and what better way to live than to immerse yourself in your own development while also helping other people to achieve their own dreams and desires. Celebrate your progress!! Here’s to your health, wealth and happiness.
Six Daily Activities for Success
I am aware that some people believe that the Law of Attraction, if followed diligently, will bring you success of every kind that you desire. No doubt about it, there is ample evidence that The Law of Attraction gets you into the right vibration for success. That is Joy and Happiness. And there is no better vibration whether success follows or not – this is just great to experience. You only need to read The Secret to discover for yourself the high impact that the Law of Attraction has had on the lives of many people. However I can assure you that those people did not sit back and expect the Universe to provide. They did the following six things.
- Take action to produce an income every day. Be disciplined and do six things every day to make your business or job work.
- Daily visualisation and meditation. Visualising your desired state daily or more often is proven to work. Write out what it is that you desire and are prepared to take responsibility for, find a quiet space and see, hear, taste, smell and feel what it is like to have it. Meditation assists to still the mind and allow your energies to match your desires. Ten to fifteen minutes daily is ideal.
- Personal development activities that keep you focused in in the right attitude. Do thirty minutes worth every day. Watch The Secret, read Eckhart Tolle, go online and take a look at Abraham-Hicks, read my blogg or give me a call. Just do it! Just do personal development.
- Get together with like minded people, preferably those that you feel are harmonious to your thinking and who are already successful. Make a mastermind – that is join up your collective wisdom, bounce it off each other and watch the ideas grow.
- Grow the idea and expectation that you are a leader - BE the person that leaders are, DO the things that leaders do, Have the things that leaders have. And if you do not know the answer to those BE, DO, HAVES then find out because that is what leaders do. Leadership is not an accident, it is grown and nurtured.
- Show your appreciation and gratitude for everything that you have, all of the people you see, the world around you, every little thing. Soon you will see more and more things that you appreciate and you will feel your energy rise and become closer to how you want to feel it. Oh, and one last tip, be grateful for all of the things that are going to come your way in the future; that is those things that you desire.
And have fun!!
Positive Thoughts Across the World
I am like most people I know in that I have had no idea what to do with some of the distressing new stories that I hear on a daily basis. Having recently returned to Cairns from Mexico, the outbreak of swine flu hit my conscious mind quickly and alerted me to the very real risk that exists in the Universe as a result of the unlimited travel that is now available. I could very easily be one of those Australian people who needed to be tested. Indeed, I had friends calling me to ensure that I had followed up as I should.
Today I see on the news that the level of concern in Mexico is reducing with authorities accepting that a high level of quick public action was necessary to manage the risk of a world wide outbreak of swine flu. No doubt that will be well received everywhere and will perhaps be little comfort to the families of those who are very ill or who have died as a result of contracting this very serious virus.
So, the one thing that I can do, that may be of help to everyone is to send positive messages this way to all of those affected, and to all of those who are afraid right now while they await there own tests. To those people I send messages of compassion and hope.
Additionally I send messages of gratitude to those people all over the world who have contacted authoritites and who have worked to control and minimise the risk. To all of those people I send my appreciation for the responsibility taken and the work that you all do on a daily basis to take care of the rest of us.
Finally, to everyone else I send positive messages about good health. The good news is that the rest of us who are not affected can work to keep our own good health and can support everyone whom we know to do the same. The more positive messages that are sent out into the Universe the better.
Attitude and Success – Are they Connected?
Andy Griffiths, Australia’s number one Business Energiser, recently said that a positive attitude is the most powerful weapon in the process of bullet proofing your business. He went on to say that you get to choose your attitude so why not choose the right one? Andy also reminded us that we may partake of exercise several times per week and only partake of an attitude hit occasionally.
I found this interesting stuff and it set me to thinking about my own attitude in the past and what attitude I had when I was feeling the most successful. I can say for sure that at my most negative, I was not feeling at all successful and neither was I enjoying my life. For me, success is about how I am feeling, what I am achieving and how I am going about doing that. It is not only about making money, but is a bit about that. And these days success, above all, is a feeling of happiness and joy that is not easily diminished by my circumstances.
Zig Ziglar has said that “success is a process, not an event” and it was Albert Schweitzer who said “success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful”. However my favourite of all quotes about success is from Corita Kent who said”Life is a succession of moments. To live each one is to succeed”. And I think that it is just as easy to choose positive moments as to choose negative ones. It is only a matter of choice, getting some attitude exercise on a regular basis and making the connection between attitude and success. After all, it is hard to imagine being happy and therefor successful when filled with pessimism and negativity, much easier to imagine happiness arriving with optimism and positivity.
In my mind, one of the best ways to get your attitude exercise is to read and hear Andy Griffiths. Then just sit back, relax and feel successful.
