Looking For An Entrepreneur
An entrepreneur is described as a person who is willing to take on a venture and all of the responsibility that goes with it. This French word means “to undertake”; and in today’s world that undertaking is a business one, often with substantial risk attached. So an entrepreneur is one who takes action. This reminds me of the words of Theodore Roosevelt in Chicken Soup for the Soul; “Credit belongs to the man who is in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly…..who at best knows in the end the high achievement of triumph”. I am sure that Roosevelt was speaking of an entrepreneur. Read some great blogs for entrepreneurs.
The world of an entrepreneur is an exciting one with new possibilities on the table every day. While this is not the world for everyone, currently more and more people are moving towards their own business as a life of employment becomes less attractive and high paying jobs harder to find. People are investigating, via the Internet, the endless stream of business opportunities that are presented. So how do you decide to become an entrepreneur and what does it take to succeed.
For many people, redundancy has made the decision for them and set them on the path to be an entrepreneur. For others, life in a job has long held little charm and they simply come to the “fork in the road” and are not prepared to work like that forever. Some people have a burning desire to earn a lot more than paid employment will ever allow and still others are drawn to the pure pleasure of being their own boss!
So if you are thinking of becoming an entrepreneur think about the following:-
- Can you set your mind to something and see it through?
- Are you prepared to do the hard yards that the first few years might take?
- What will you do if you have a setback – do you have perseverance?
- Can you work alone and remain motivated?
- Can you focus on solutions and not the problem?
- Do you take control of your own destiny and all of the responsibility that goes with that?
If you answer yes to those questions then you might just be an entrepreneur and the person who I am looking for. Contact me.
Huna in Hawaii
I have recently returned from Hawaii which was truly spectacular and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I was in Hawaii for a personal development program related to my home business in personal development as well as to relax and enjoy the company of my beloved. So I travelled all of that way to this remarkable conference, spent days in the company of like minded people and came away having had another life changing experience. However it was not until I returned home and read a particularly captivating article about Hawaii that I realised that I have missed something special and will have to return!! What a shame.
I refer to an article “The Secret Science Behind Miracles” published in New Dawn, written by Richard Smoley. For a personal development devotee, this is a lovely article that provides a good beginning for understanding the Hawaiian tradition of “Huna“. Smoley explains that the fundamental idea behind Huna is that a person, rather than being a single coherent entity has three parts that work in harmony (or not as the case may be). There is the strong, intuitive, emotional self, the reasoning self and the wise, utterly devoted, utterly loving parental self.
The article goes on to teach how to work with the three selves, to take guidance when making decisions and increase your self awareness through this practice. Serge Kahili King a noted Kahuna, says that attentive self-enquiry will eventually lead you to see the beliefs upon which you base your actions and once consciously recognised you can then change them if you so desire. Now I am aware that beliefs can and often are limiting and I have a few that I am working to change. You see why I must go back!!! How much fun would it be to work with a Kahuna.
Have Fun in Hawaii
I am having fun getting ready for our trip to Hawaii where we will mix with millionaires, eat with entrepreneurs, circulate with six figure chicks, conference with crack marketers and just generally have lots of fun. I can imagine lazy breakfasts by the sea, dreamy dinners under the stars and just generally lots of fun. There is no doubt that there will be long conversations over various yummy concoctions at gorgeous bars, sightseeing with similar successful people and just generally lots of fun. You get the picture!!
And guess what – this is personal development. Yep, the man of my dreams and I are off to one of the best ever personal development conferences and it will be fun, fun, fun because that is what life is about.
Especially when you have the best ever home business in personal development. So come on, what are you waiting for. Oh and keep watch here while I update you all from Hawaii.
The Secret – Napoleon Hill’s Version
In 1928, twenty years after he was commissioned by Andrew Carnegie to write a success formula that could be used by the average man, Napoleon Hill published “Think and Grow Rich“. Long before The Secret became known worldwide and influenced another generation of people, Hill, guided by Andrew Carnegie, interviewed 504 of America’s most famous men and produced the great Secret. Hill not only wrote the book which revealed the Secret, but also provided the Plan which together form a blueprint for anyone seeking success; not only financially but also successfully happy.
The book takes you through the 13 steps necessary to overcome all obstacles and achieve all of your ambitions and remember, it was written in the early 1900’s. It is an amazing book, a guiding light and a basic text for any student of personal development. These days, as expected, you can become a member of the Napoleon Hill Foundation and enjoy all of the benefits that the Internet has to offer. I can only imagine their lives if these men had access to the technologies that we have. However the book allows a glimpse of personal development 1928 style.
One of the key principals that Hill outlines is the mastermind which is the capacity to join up with a group of people who have harmonious minds and share your thoughts, thought energy and intelligence for their good and your own. This bringing together of thought energy creates a great bank of energy that is then used towards a specific purpose. According to Hill, this form of cooperative alliance has been the basis of nearly every great fortune. The message is simple, surround yourself with like minds in a harmonious environment, give generously to the mastermind yourself and receive the full benefits. To success and happiness!
Strategies for Success – Hot Tip 5
This hot tip is for women who are considering going into business, especially a home business, and I might be biased but I reckon that women should choose a home business in personal development. Do you know that in America, the number of women-owned firms continues to grow at twice the rate of all U.S. firms (23 percent vs. 9 percent). There are an estimated 10 million women-owned, privately-held U.S. businesses. The greatest challenge for women-owned firms is access to capital, credit and equity. Women start businesses on both lifestyle and financial reasons. Many run businesses from home to keep overheads low (reference). I can imagine that the same sort of statistic would exist elsewhere in the world.
I know for sure, in my home business in personal development that many of the business owners are women. And I know that these women have what it takes to set up a business that allows them to work from home. One of the things that it takes to be successful in your home business is persistence and perseverance. Not only to access capital, credit and equity as shown by the American statistics, but also to understand marketing, arrange a daily schedule of activities that works for you and to keep going while the business is established and producing an income. Persistence is the key.
And it pays to remember that people who do not succeed in their home business may be just one shot away from success when they give up. Persistence and perseverance is everything. Isn’t it great also to see the leadership role that women are taking in business about lifestyle and making money. Here in Cairns, in my home business in personal development, I can be persistent while enjoying my amazing lifestyle and having fun.
