Want To Be More Interesting? Get Positive.

Personal Development is about the whole person, how you tick, how you feel and what you are doing in your life that satisfies you and makes you happy. Part of the whole person experience is the relationships that you have with others and how you create opportunities to interact with people.  So lately, I have been busily creating lots of new relationships because I have left my long term field of employment and moved out into a home business in personal development. This is a very exciting time for me and causes me to explore “being interesting”.  After all, who wants to interact with a boring person!

Reading Edward de Bono again, not sure how many times that is now, I found a passage on Possibility in his book How To Be More Interesting. “If we could only open our mouths to deliver encyclopedic facts we should largely remain silent.  Interest would be confined to only those facts which were in themselves interesting.  It is possibility and speculation that can make anything more interesting.” de Bono goes on to talk about going beyond what is in front of you, scanning the mind for a variety of possible conclusions about any one thing.  He says that narrowing down and being dogmatic is boring.

My mind immediately linked this whole subject to being positive. How can you become interesting, scanning around for possibilities if you are locked into pessimism and negative thinking.  Would this lock out the various possibilities that might come up in the course of interesting conversations?  Negative attitudes tend to deplete the energy around them and a vibrant and interesting conversation surely requires energy as well.

So I have decided that positive people must be more interesting. And I know from previous experience that wiring your brain for positivity is scientifically proven to be possible.  It is just a state of mind.

Strategies for Success – Hot Tip 6

This hot tip is for everyone, everywhere in the world, who wants to feel positive and successful. It is simple, turn off the media.  Do What? I hear you ask.  You read right, turn off the media and occupy your time doing something more positive.  The fact is that media is full of negative input and if you wish to be successful, to feel positive, successful and happy, it is hard to do that when you are bombarded by negative inputs.  Much easier when the input is positive.  Much nicer for the Universe as well.

When you do turn off the media, you actually find many hours of the week available to you to do other more exciting things like researching your new venture, your home business or work from home opportunity or any of the other things that you might be passionate about.  And passion and following your passion is one of the important keys to success.  So give up media in all forms, TV, newspapers, magazines and you will have time for your passion.

I hear so many people saying that they want more time in their day for the things they want to do. Well, here is one way to gift yourself time.  Time to exercise, time to play with your kids or dog, time to expand your mind, grow your mind power or time to read inspiring books or articles.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, “As we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to be the same”. Wonderful man, wonderful book.  Well I am off to expand my mind, have some personal development and read a bit more of Nelson Mandela’s life story.  And have a bit of fun with one of my passions; books.

Strategies for Success – Hot Tip 5

This hot tip is for women who are considering going into business, especially a home business, and I might be biased but I reckon that women should choose a home business in personal development. Do you know that in America, the number of women-owned firms continues to grow at twice the rate of all U.S. firms (23 percent vs. 9 percent). There are an estimated 10 million women-owned, privately-held U.S. businesses. The greatest challenge for women-owned firms is access to capital, credit and equity. Women start businesses on both lifestyle and financial reasons. Many run businesses from home to keep overheads low (reference). I can imagine that the same sort of statistic would exist elsewhere in the world.

I know for sure, in my home business in personal development that many of the business owners are women. And I know that these women have what it takes to set up a business that allows them to work from home.  One of the things that it takes to be successful in your home business is persistence and perseverance.  Not only to access capital, credit and equity as shown by the American statistics, but also to understand marketing, arrange a daily schedule of activities that works for you and to keep going while the business is established and producing an income. Persistence is the key.

And it pays to remember that people who do not succeed in their home business may be just one shot away from success when they give upPersistence and perseverance is everything. Isn’t it great also to see the leadership role that women are taking in business about lifestyle and making money. Here in Cairns, in my home business in personal development, I can be persistent while enjoying my amazing lifestyle and having fun.

Masterminding for My Home Business in Personal Development

I have long been a student of personal development but it was not until 5 months ago, when I embarked upon a unique and transforming program that I became a fully and actively committed student. Since then I have been re-reading some oldies but goodies as well as becoming familiar with new and exciting writers.  One of my re-reads is Success – The Best of Napoleon Hill, revised and updated by Patricia G. Horan.  Hill, writing in 1928 and 1930, outlines in great detail the Master Mind which he defines as “a composite mind, consisting of two or more individual minds working in perfect harmony, with a Definite Aim in view”. Hill goes on to talk about the power of abundance in such a situation and the ability through this process to stimulate the minds of the Master Mind to a highly intensified degree of action in pursuit of the Definite Aim.  I was loving this idea for my home business in personal development.

Hill contended then that it is possible for thoughts to communicate with other thoughts; minds to speak directly to minds and gives as an example the Master Mind that served so well for Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and Harvey Firestone. Well, I will be happy to achieve to the extent that those three men did so two weeks ago I set off on a journey to meet up with as many of the experts within my new home business in personal development field as I possibly could in the time that I had available.  The first thing that I found was the absolute generosity of those experienced people.

They freely gave me hours of their time, shared their business acumen, provided hot tips and advice garnered from others and from their own experiences, lent me books and in some cases hosted me in their homes. I greatly appreciated this generosity and having never been seen it before, was amazed and humbled.  I am sure that in relation to give and receive, these people will receive ten fold in return.

Now for the amazing bit.  In some cases, I was gently but firmly challenged in regard to some of what I believed or was doing and that was an incredible learning experience on its own.  However in all cases, I left with something on my mind that I have subsequently turned much attention to and found some answers that I did not ever expect.  I can only think that this was a genuine Master Mind as defined by Hill.  Apart from that though, I greatly welcomed the Master Minding discussions that we had and learned heaps from them.  I thoroughly recommend that every small business owner find themselves a Master Mind!!  And I am sure that my own home business in personal development will be all the better for those Master Minds and others that will take place in the future.

The drive down the coast from Cairns to Brisbane was alright too. I highly recommend a look at both Tannum Sands and Burrum Heads.

Moving On – A Home Based Business in Personal Development

I have done it, left my job in favour of a home based business in personal development! After 18 years in senior management; nine of those as a senior executive with the public service, just one week ago I made the momentous move to my own small business, working from home like countless women before me.  The urge to create a life that exactly meets my desires far out weighed the security of full time work.  People all over the world are seeking life outside of the square, looking for a new and more flexible way to support themselves and I am no different.  I count myself lucky to have fallen upon a home based business that taps my skills in personal development.

Now I ask you – how divine is that? I now have the freedom and flexibility to work as I see best as well doing something that I really love.  All of the best literature suggests that the greatest happiness will come from doing what you love and loving what you do.  In his book, The Money or Your Life, John Clark writes that if you unleash your talents in an area to which you feel called, then you will experience fulfillment and bliss.  This new home based business in personal development, upon which I have embarked offers all of that and also adds a level of meaning to my life that comes from the daily opportunity to assist others to meet their highest potential.

The decision to take this risk in a small business at this allegedly precarious economic time, did not come easily to me as I imagine it does not come easily to anyone. However, I did my research.  Personal Development products are part of a 16 to 19 billion dollar worldwide industry and more people than ever before seek extra cash in their quest for financial freedom and improved family lifestyles.  People are looking to get from life what they really desire and they expect to find innovative ways to do that.  An online home business offers limitless opportunities.

And the good news is that anyone can do it.  Anyone that is who is prepared to step up to leadership, has energy and enthusiasm, is willing to do the work required and can think outside the square, see the big picture and find the courage to have a go.  They are all a bit Australian really, those qualities.  As I embark upon my new adventure in life I feel very Australian, very excited and filled with joy.  That is why a home based business in personal development is for me.   While I might not require quite so much courage as Jessica Watson, who plans to sail around the world, it took courage for me to find this path; my bliss, my fulfillment and the path to a rich and rewarding life.
